A Cheltenham practice at Calderwood House, on Montpellier Parade.

Pembridge Solicitors is a ten-year Cheltenham firm at 7 Montpellier Parade, beside the Caryatids of Montpellier Walk and a short walk from Imperial Gardens. Founded in 2015 by Prithiviraj Pem after eleven years of practice in immigration, employment, welfare and consumer law, the firm covers eight practice areas from a single Calderwood House office, with a Saturday morning reception most central-Cheltenham firms do not keep. SRA-regulated under organisation number 625038.

What we do

Four broad lines of work, taken in one office on Montpellier Parade.

Pembridge has stayed deliberately small. The eight areas on the practice list group into four broad files, each handled by a named solicitor on the SRA register, with intake and reception running through the same phone number whether the matter is a Saturday family-law walk-in or a midnight police-station call.

Family law

Divorce, separation and financial settlements; child arrangements and grandparents’ rights; prenuptial agreements; domestic abuse protection orders; adoption; cohabitation agreements and name changes. Free initial consultation, fixed-fee options on the unopposed work. The remit is broader than most high-street firms in Cheltenham, with prohibited-steps and grandparents’ applications taken as standard rather than referred onward.

Crime and motoring

Police-station representation around the clock, magistrates’ court advocacy, Crown Court instruction, driving and drug offences. Drink-driving and licence-retention work is a steady part of the file; a recent published client review credits the firm with keeping a licence on a borderline reading. Privately funded and legal-aid work, with the duty rota covered for Cheltenham, Gloucester and Stroud stations.

Personal injury and medical negligence

Road traffic accidents, workplace accidents, slips, trips and falls; surgical errors, misdiagnosis, birth injuries, medication errors and dental negligence. Personal-injury work is taken on a no-win-no-fee basis. The firm publishes a £20,000 RTA recovery for a recent client among its open reviews; the same desk runs medical-negligence pre-action letters when the injury is clinical rather than vehicular.

Immigration, employment and business

Family visas, spouse visas, Skilled Worker route, asylum, citizenship; unfair dismissal, discrimination, harassment, redundancy and settlement agreements; commercial contracts, company formation, disputes, debt recovery and professional negligence. The firm also runs a crypto-recovery line for phishing, hacking and investment-scam matters, which is unusual on a Cotswold high-street website and reflects Pem’s pre-Pembridge immigration and consumer-law background.

Ten years on Montpellier Parade

2015, Pembridge opens at Calderwood House.

The firm was started by Prithiviraj Pem in September 2015, after eleven years of legal practice in immigration, employment, welfare benefits, human rights and consumer law. Incorporated at Companies House as 09777070, recognised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority as organisation 625038 two months later, and based at Calderwood House on Montpellier Parade from the first day.

The practice has grown from a one-solicitor immigration and family file into eight practice areas, with Christopher Hampden joining as the second SRA-registered solicitor (ID 164487). The firm is not a hundred-year heritage shop; it is the newer, smaller practice on a Regency street, kept deliberately small so the person who picks up the telephone is the person who handles the file.

Mr Pem is very professional, honest and really cares about his clients. Rebecca, on a Skilled Worker Health Care Visa, ReviewSolicitors
Why a newer firm on a Regency street

Three things Pembridge does differently to the older Cheltenham firms.

01

One telephone covers eight practice areas

Family, crime, personal injury, medical negligence, immigration, employment, business and crypto recovery, on the same intake line. Most Cheltenham high-street firms either pick the non-contentious half (conveyancing and wills) or refer crime and immigration onward. Pembridge keeps all eight in-house, which means a single client matter that crosses areas (a separation that touches immigration status, a workplace injury with an employment angle) is handled on one desk.

02

Saturday morning reception, every week

The office is staffed at reception from 09:00 to 13:00 every Saturday. This is a real opening, not a divert-to-voicemail. It is the slot most clients with weekday jobs use for family law, conveyancing follow-ups and unscheduled intake. Across central Cheltenham, only a handful of firms keep weekend hours; the pattern has been in place at Pembridge since 2020.

03

Authorised for the full SRA permission set

Pembridge is authorised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority for the full range of reserved legal activities: litigation, probate work and rights of audience. Prithiviraj Pem holds both COLP and COFA roles, so compliance and finance regulation answer to one named person. The full permission set means matters that would normally be split between two firms (a probate dispute, a contested estate) stay inside the same engagement letter.

When we answer

Five weekdays full, and Saturday morning at the door.

Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00
Saturday 09:00 to 13:00
Sunday Closed
Police-station representation 24 hours, by duty rota

Saturday morning is the distinctive slot. Walk-ins are welcome at the door from 09:00 to 13:00; scheduled appointments are taken on the same Saturday slot for family law, conveyancing follow-ups and free intake. The rest of central Cheltenham’s solicitors are closed on Saturdays.

Call reception now
Send a written enquiry

A short note is enough. The reply comes back from the solicitor handling that area.

Family matters go to Prithiviraj Pem or the family desk; criminal and motoring enquiries route to the duty rota; personal-injury and medical-negligence intake is on a no-win-no-fee basis from the first call. The form below reaches reception at info@pembridgesolicitors.co.uk and is read the same working day.

  • Same working-day acknowledgement; a fuller reply within two working days.
  • Free initial consultation on most matters, no obligation to instruct after it.
  • For an urgent police-station call, the office line is faster: 0330 900 0377.
  • Any engagement is confirmed in writing before work begins.

Enquiry

By sending this enquiry you agree we may store it for the purpose of replying. Nothing here forms a retainer; that only happens after a written engagement letter.

Frequently asked

Five questions worth answering before you call.

Do you offer a free initial consultation?

Yes. The first conversation about most matters is free of charge. It is a fact-find: what happened, what you want, whether the matter is the right shape for the firm. If the matter is right and you instruct us, an engagement letter follows with the fee or no-win-no-fee basis written in plain language. If the matter would be better handled elsewhere, the consultation tells you that too, at no cost.

Can I speak to the solicitor directly, not just a paralegal?

Yes. Pembridge is small on purpose. Prithiviraj Pem is the director, COLP and COFA, and on most matters the solicitor handling your file is the person you spoke to at intake. Reviewers cite this as the firm’s strongest point: "Direct access to the solicitor is a big positive" appears as a common thread across the published feedback.

What does no-win-no-fee actually cost me on a personal injury claim?

A Conditional Fee Agreement: if we do not recover compensation for you, you pay nothing in legal fees. If we do recover compensation, our success fee is capped at 25 per cent of the damages awarded for past losses (and never on damages for future care), in line with the statutory cap. ATE insurance is arranged at intake so adverse costs are covered too. Every number is written into the engagement letter before the case starts.

Are you genuinely open on Saturdays?

Yes. The office is staffed at reception every Saturday from 09:00 to 13:00. Walk-ins are welcome and so are scheduled appointments; the Saturday slot is the one most clients with weekday jobs actually use. The rest of central Cheltenham’s solicitors are closed on Saturdays. The pattern has been in place since 2020.

Will you take a criminal defence case on legal aid, or only privately funded?

Both. The firm holds a duty solicitor allocation for Cheltenham, Gloucester and Stroud police stations and is on the legal-aid contract for magistrates’ work. Privately funded representation is also available; the choice depends on means-testing and the nature of the charge. A short telephone call confirms which route applies in any given matter.
